"Risks from geothermal energy production in Lower Puna exist.... Harmful effects can only be understood through better monitoring and reliable health data."
Hawaii County Council members unanimously approved bill 129 banning hydraulic fracturing (and enhanced geothermal) and the bill was signed into law by Mayor Kenoi on November 6, 2013, becoming Ordinance 13-115.
The mission of Puna Pono Alliance is to build alliances that support environmentally safe, culturally sensitive, economically viable, and sustainable energy alternatives for Hawai`i County. We are committed to protecting the health, safety, sustainability and quality of life for all of our neighbors.
Meetings each Tuesday at HAAS School, Pahoa, 4:00 to 6:00 pm
